Tactical Fiber Built for Broadcast Production

All vertical markets

Iron Photon tactical armored fiber connects cameras, field positions, studios, production trucks and control rooms through a compact black-jacket platform designed for repeated deployment. OS2 and OM4 options, armored camera patching, hybrid power-and-fiber, qualifying power over fiber and active optical HDMI can be engineered around the production workflow.

01

Tactical Fiber Built for Broadcast Production

Broadcast teams depend on reliable optical connections among cameras, field positions, production trucks, control rooms, replay systems, audio, intercom and distribution equipment. These links are frequently deployed under time pressure and handled repeatedly throughout load-in, production and strike.

Iron Photon Tactical Fiber combines a rugged black jacket, aramid reinforcement, stainless-steel reinforcing braid and flexible spiral armor. The compact construction adds cable-level protection while supporting reel-based deployment, retrieval, transport and storage.

02

Camera Connectivity From Reel to Production Rack

Iron Photon can coordinate the protected signal path from tactical reel to camera breakout and onward to the production rack or truck. Smaller armored equipment patch cords extend protection toward the active optical interfaces.

The broadcast image models this complete route. The cable cutaway remains proportional to the nominal 5.5 mm tactical platform and shows the black jacket, aramid yarn, reinforcing braid and separated stainless-steel armor coils with visible gaps.

Broadcast Applications

Iron Photon tactical and armored fiber solutions can support:

  • Studio and field cameras
  • Mobile production trucks and remote-production units
  • Live sports, concerts and event broadcasting
  • Studios, control rooms and master-control facilities
  • Replay, graphics and media-server systems
  • Audio-over-IP, video-over-IP and production intercom
  • Camera-control, tally and equipment-management links
  • Stadium, arena and venue broadcast infrastructure
  • Temporary production compounds and reusable field networks
  • Permanent broadcast backbones and equipment connections
04

Relevant Iron Photon Broadcast Solutions

  • Black-jacket tactical OS2 singlemode and OM4 multimode fiber
  • Two through 24 fiber tactical constructions
  • Nominal 5.5 mm tactical platform for qualifying configurations
  • Tight-buffered and loose-tube designs where applicable
  • Stainless reinforcing braid and flexible spiral armor
  • Portable reels, custom breakouts and deployment hardware
  • Factory-terminated armored camera and equipment patch cords
  • LC, SC and MTP/MPO interfaces where appropriate, along with SMPTE and other broadcast connector configurations using compatible connectivity systems
  • Hybrid power-and-fiber constructions for cameras and remote equipment
  • Armored active optical HDMI for monitors, switchers and displays
  • Custom lengths, labeling, serialization and factory test documentation

Final construction, fiber count, connector, diameter, reel, handling performance, environmental rating, optical budget, power architecture and equipment compatibility must be confirmed for the approved configuration.

05

OS2 and OM4 Tactical Value

OS2 supports extended-reach camera, backhaul, campus and interbuilding links when paired with compatible optics. OM4 supports high-speed shorter-distance links commonly used in studios, venues, production facilities and equipment environments.

Fiber type must be selected around the active equipment, transmission distance, data rate and complete optical loss budget rather than only the physical cable route.

06

Hybrid Power and Fiber for Cameras

Some cameras and remote production devices require optical connectivity and electrical power. Iron Photon can evaluate hybrid constructions that combine fiber and copper power conductors within a project-specific assembly.

Voltage, current, conductor size, voltage drop, connector system, cable length, temperature, pathway and equipment requirements must be engineered for every design. A hybrid assembly should not be presented as a universal replacement for separately designed power and communications systems.

07

Power Over Fiber for Qualifying Remote Endpoints

Power over fiber transmits optical energy through fiber and converts it into electrical power at the remote end. For qualifying low-power cameras, sensors, tally or control endpoints, it can reduce dependence on local electrical power and avoid adding copper power conductors to the optical power channel.

The system requires an optical-power transmitter, compatible fiber path, connectors, photovoltaic converter, load management and a validated end-to-end power budget. Available output depends on source power, wavelength, distance, link loss, conversion efficiency, temperature and equipment demand.

Power over fiber is not a universal camera-power solution. Laser safety, interlocks, thermal performance, failure behavior and equipment compatibility must be approved. Because the armored cable contains metal, grounding, bonding and isolation claims must be evaluated for the complete assembly and installation.

08

Armored Active Optical HDMI

Iron Photon armored active optical HDMI can connect qualifying cameras, monitors, switchers, LED processors and displays over distances where passive copper HDMI may be limited. Tactical reel options can support mobile production and event workflows.

Directionality, HDMI version, bandwidth, video format, HDR, refresh rate, power, connector construction, length and source-display compatibility must match the exact approved assembly.

09

Installer and Production Crew Advantage

  • Compact tactical construction for reel and pathway efficiency
  • Added protection during deployment, production and strike
  • Factory termination that can reduce field preparation
  • Custom breakouts matched to cameras and production equipment
  • OS2 and OM4 options for different reach and data-rate requirements
  • Hybrid power-and-fiber and power-over-fiber engineering for qualifying devices
  • Consistent labeling, test documentation and deployment hardware
  • A coordinated path from tactical backbone to equipment patching
10

Engineered Around the Broadcast Workflow

Iron Photon evaluates the signal type, cameras, active equipment, data rate, distance, fiber count, deployment frequency, reel, route, handling, connectors, power requirement, optical loss budget, environmental conditions, testing and documentation before recommending a configuration.

All performance, interface, power, safety, environmental and compliance claims must correspond to the exact approved part number, supporting test documentation and equipment design.
