SinglemodeBulkArmoredFiber

Long-Distance Performance Protected by Stainless Steel

All products

Iron Photon singlemode bulk fiber combines long-distance optical performance with compact stainless steel spiral armor for broadband, telecommunications, utility, campus, transportation, security and other critical network applications. Available in multiple fiber counts, cable constructions, jacket colors and indoor, outdoor or direct-burial configurations, each cable can be engineered around the pathway, installation environment and project requirements.

The small outside diameter helps installers maximize conduit capacity and route fiber through congested pathways while providing added protection against physical damage.

Long-Distance Performance Protected by Stainless Steel

Iron Photon singlemode bulk armored fiber combines OS2 optical performance with compact stainless steel spiral armor. The integrated armor provides an additional layer of physical protection while maintaining the flexibility and small outside diameter needed for congested conduits, restricted pathways and demanding installations.

Available in 1-, 2-, 4-, 6-, 12-, 24- and 48-fiber constructions. Iron Photon singlemode cable can be configured around the required transmission distance, pathway, environmental conditions and installation method. Indoor, outdoor, indoor/outdoor and direct-burial constructions are available for qualifying applications.

02

Built for Broadband and Critical Infrastructure

Singlemode fiber supports high-bandwidth transmission over extended distances and is widely used for broadband, telecommunications, utility, transportation, campus and other geographically distributed networks.

Iron Photon adds compact stainless steel armor to help protect this critical optical pathway from crushing, impact, handling and other physical risks encountered during installation and throughout the cable’s service life.

06

Broadband Applications

Broadband networks frequently require fiber to travel through underground pathways, handholes, cabinets, pedestals, buildings and remote distribution locations. These routes can expose conventional fiber cable to pulling stress, crushing, accidental impact and future construction activity.

Iron Photon singlemode armored fiber provides the optical reach required for broadband networks with integrated stainless steel protection. The compact construction can help contractors install additional fiber capacity in pathways where conduit space is limited.

Applications include:

  • Backbone and middle-mile routes
  • Fiber distribution networks
  • Fiber-to-the-home deployments
  • Central office and headend connections
  • Cabinets, pedestals and remote terminals
  • Rural broadband infrastructure
  • Municipal broadband networks
  • Utility and cooperative broadband systems
  • Campus and community networks
  • Small-OD trenching and direct-burial routes
07

Installer Advantage

Iron Photon singlemode bulk armored fiber is designed to give installers physical protection without the size and handling challenges associated with heavier conventional armored constructions.

Installers benefit from:

  • A compact cable that is easier to pull and route
  • Improved use of limited conduit space
  • Flexible stainless steel spiral armor
  • Additional protection during pulling and placement
  • Multiple fiber counts within a coordinated cable platform
  • Jacket options matched to the installation environment
  • Custom footage markings and print legends
  • Factory-terminated options that can reduce field labor
  • Fewer installation steps where separate protective pathways are not required
  • Easier deployment through congested or difficult routes

The suitability of any construction for installation without conduit must be confirmed against the specific product rating, pathway and applicable codes.

08

End-User Advantage

A damaged fiber backbone can interrupt communications, security systems, operations and customer service. Iron Photon helps protect the optical connection at the cable level while maintaining the long-distance performance and future capacity of OS2 singlemode fiber.

End users benefit from:

  • Reliable long-distance network connectivity
  • Greater protection for critical fiber pathways
  • Reduced exposure to physical cable damage
  • More efficient use of existing infrastructure
  • Scalable capacity for future bandwidth requirements
  • Cable constructions matched to the operating environment
  • Reduced disruption during qualifying network expansions
  • Custom configurations developed around the application
  • A durable physical foundation for long-term network performance
09

Compact Armor for Constrained Pathways

The stainless steel armor is integrated into the cable instead of relying solely on a larger external protective system. This allows Iron Photon to provide armored protection in a compact, flexible construction suited for congested conduits, narrow pathways and small-OD trenching.

Actual cable diameter depends on the fiber count, buffer design, jacket, environmental rating and selected construction.
