Compact Armored Fiber Built for Repeated Deployment
Iron Photon Tactical Fiber is engineered for applications where optical cable may be repeatedly deployed, retrieved, coiled, transported or routed through active production and equipment environments. The cable combines flexible stainless steel spiral armor, stainless steel reinforcing braid, aramid strength members and a rugged black outer jacket to help protect the optical core from crushing, impact, kinking, pulling and handling damage.
The coordinated platform supports OS2 singlemode and OM4 multimode configurations from 2 through 24 fibers in a nominal 5.5 mm outside diameter. Tight-buffered and loose-tube designs can be selected around the termination method, equipment interface, deployment frequency and operating environment.
Built for Broadcast and Professional AV
Broadcast and professional audiovisual systems depend on reliable optical connections among cameras, control rooms, mobile production units, equipment racks, stages, front-of-house positions and content-distribution systems. These environments often require cable to be moved, coiled, stored and redeployed while remaining flexible and easy to manage.
Iron Photon adds compact stainless steel protection along the cable length while preserving the handling characteristics required for temporary systems, permanent installations and hybrid deployments.
Tactical Fiber Options
Iron Photon Tactical Fiber can be configured around the fiber type, fiber count and termination requirements of the project:
- OS2 singlemode fiber
- OM4 laser-optimized multimode fiber
- Fiber counts from 2 through 24
- Nominal 5.5 mm outside diameter across the tactical platform
- Tight-buffered constructions, where applicable
- Loose-tube constructions, where applicable
- Flexible stainless steel spiral armor with visible spacing between coils
- Stainless steel reinforcing braid
- Aramid yarn strength members
- Black tactical outer jacket only
- Custom lengths and sequential footage markings
- Custom print legends, part numbers and cable identification
- Factory termination for qualifying constructions
- Project-specific fanout and breakout configurations
- LC, SC, ST, FC and MTP/MPO interfaces where appropriate, along with SMPTE and other broadcast connector configurations using compatible connectivity systems where applicable
Final fiber type, fiber count, exact outside-diameter tolerance, buffer construction, jacket material, fire rating, environmental suitability, handling requirements and termination method must be confirmed for the selected product.
OS2 Singlemode Tactical Fiber
OS2 singlemode fiber supports long-distance and high-bandwidth optical links when paired with compatible active equipment. It is suited for broadcast backhaul, campus connections, remote camera systems, interbuilding links and other applications requiring extended transmission reach.
OM4 Multimode Tactical Fiber
OM4 is a laser-optimized multimode fiber designed for high-speed optical connections across the shorter distances commonly found within studios, venues, production facilities, enterprise buildings and data-center environments. The required data rate, transmission distance and optical loss budget must be confirmed for the complete link.
Tight-Buffered Construction
Tight-buffered tactical cable can simplify fiber handling and may support direct connectorization when the selected connector, buffer diameter and termination process are compatible. It is well suited for field assemblies, equipment connections and applications requiring accessible individual fibers.
Loose-Tube Construction
Loose-tube tactical cable provides protected fiber organization within the cable core and can support breakout, fanout or splice-based termination methods. The selected loose-tube construction should be matched to the handling, environmental and termination requirements of the project.

Broadcast and Professional AV Applications
Tactical fiber can connect cameras, control rooms, replay systems, stage racks, front-of-house positions, production trucks, media servers and distribution equipment. The compact armored construction helps protect optical links routed through active production areas where cables may be exposed to repeated movement, foot traffic, equipment handling and changing system configurations.
Security and Remote Camera Applications
Security and surveillance networks often require optical connectivity between cameras, control rooms, perimeter locations and remote equipment. Iron Photon Tactical Fiber can provide a compact protected pathway for temporary, mobile or permanent camera connections when the selected construction and connector system are appropriate for the environment.
Installer Advantage
Iron Photon Tactical Fiber gives installers a compact protected cable that remains manageable during routing, deployment, retrieval and storage.
Installers benefit from:
- A compact 5.5 mm cable platform that is easier to route
- Improved use of limited rack, conduit and cable-tray space
- Flexible stainless steel spiral armor
- Reinforcing braid and aramid yarn for repeated handling
- Tight-buffered options for qualifying direct terminations
- Loose-tube options for breakout or splice-based transitions
- OS2 and OM4 configurations within one coordinated platform
- Custom footage markings, print legends and cable identification
- Factory-terminated options that can reduce field labor
- Connector and breakout configurations matched to the equipment interface
End-User Advantage
Damage to a tactical fiber link can interrupt production, camera feeds, security coverage, live events and communications. Iron Photon helps protect the optical pathway at the cable level while supporting the transmission performance required by modern systems.
End users benefit from:
- Added protection for critical optical connections
- Reduced exposure to physical cable damage
- Reliable OS2 or OM4 performance matched to the application
- A compact design that preserves pathway and storage space
- Flexible handling for reusable and frequently changed systems
- Custom configurations developed around the equipment and workflow
- A scalable platform supporting 2 through 24 fibers
- A durable physical foundation for long-term network performance
Compact Armor for Active Environments
The stainless steel spiral armor and reinforcing braid are integrated into the cable rather than relying solely on a larger external protective system. This creates a compact, flexible construction suited for crowded racks, cable trays, stages, mobile systems and other spaces where deployment efficiency and mechanical protection both matter.
The tactical product family uses a black outer jacket. Fiber type and configuration are identified through the part number, print legend, labeling and internal construction. Actual cable tolerances and performance values depend on the selected part number and must be confirmed before quotation or publication of a final specification.
Connector and Equipment Integration
Iron Photon can engineer tactical assemblies around LC, SC, ST, FC, MTP/MPO, SMPTE and other project-specific interfaces using compatible connector systems where applicable. Connector compatibility, termination method, polish, channel mapping and mating equipment must be verified for the complete link.
